DARE- KY Aquaponics Research & Research Programming Coordinator

Under the supervision of FoodChain’s Co-Executive Director(s) and in collaboration with DARE- KY (Driving AgTech Research and Education in Kentucky) project partners at Kentucky State University, the Aquaponics Researcher & Research Programming Coordinator will lead research focused on optimizing mineralization of fish effluent for use in aquaponic and hydroponic systems. As part of this role, the hire will primarily (60%) be responsible for assisting with research investigating nutrient dynamics in soilless agriculture systems with the aim to improve the nutrient recovery and reuse from fish effluent. The secondary part of this role (40%) will be creating opportunities for engagement and participation in aquaponics research. This hire will facilitate efforts to engage middle, high school, and post-secondary students in research, including training on research principles, best practices, publishing, dissemination, study presentation, and conference attendance Full time position $55,000. This is a grant funded position.

Kitchen Help Needed

Are you a food service worker in need of a couple extra hours a week? Do you love a fast paced commercial kitchen but need a really flexible schedule? This opportunity is for YOU!
FoodChain is looking for food service and dish workers who are interested in helping feed their community as private contractors in the FoodChain Kitchen. This position pays $15-$19 per hour and is paid based on hours worked. It is a private contractor position and requires individuals to fill out a W-9 form.
Filling out this form is not a guarantee of hours. Once you have filled out the form, FoodChain will contact you for a phone interview and about scheduling.
Duties to include: kitchen prep, washing, sorting vegetables and fruit, cutting produce, packing and labeling meals, dish duties, area clean up, sweeping and mopping, helping unload and sort food donations, and basic cooking. Applicants must have a valid Fayette Co Food Handlers Card. Applicants must be comfortable lifting up to 40 lbs, standing for up to 4 hours, and walking up and down steps.
Operations at FoodChain occur M-F 8-7, S 8-4. Shifts can be 4-8 hours depending on availability.
