Current Volunteer Opportunities
Why Do We Need Volunteers?
Volunteers are an essential part of our daily functions. Without volunteers FoodChain would not be able to operate. We rely heavily on our volunteers and struggle without them.
Our Volunteers:
- Help us deliver meals across Lexington
- Grow produce on our Aquaponics Farm
- Prepare meals
- Help in the kitchen make meals and snacks
- Hand out meals in the evenings
- Help teach our community classes
- Organize produce rescued from Trader Joe’s
- Assist our delivery program produce meal for delivery
- Represent us at outreach events
Most importantly of all, our volunteers further our mission by giving back to their communities. Volunteers are a big reason why we have been able to serve and deliver meals to those in need. We constantly need volunteers and would love to have your help.
Everything You Need To Know:
What should I Wear?
When volunteering, we encourage you to be comfortable and able to move around. In compliance with food safety regulations, we require closed-toed shoes and hair up. Wear something you can move in and won’t be upset if it gets dirty.
What Are the Age Requirements?
Children of all ages are welcome to volunteer when accompanied by a guardian or adult. Children 14 and over are allowed to volunteer alone after their parent or guardian completes a volunteer waiver.
What Do I Bring?
The only thing FoodChain requires of its volunteers is a good attitude. Come ready to learn. We allow our volunteers to bring water bottles if needed; however, we have free water on hand. We also have lockers where you can securely store your key or wallet.
Volunteer Opportunities with Age Restrictions
Mobile Meal Delivery: We require the driver to be over 18. However, children of any age are welcome to ride along.
Where Do I Park?
You can park in West Sixth Brewery’s parking lot, or anywhere there is street parking.
