Community Meals

At FoodChain we believe in the redemptive power of food, recognizing that humans can connect over a shared meal. We host a variety of programs that invite community members to gather and share a home-made, locally sourced meal or snack.
Chat N Chow
One way we work to cultivate meaningful relationships between neighbors and ourselves is by hosting our monthly “Chat ‘n Chow” dinners, which we began back in Jan 2016. These free events are an opportunity for neighbors and volunteers to join in a freshly prepared meal while getting to know one another over shared, nutritious food.
Typically we host these on the 4th Thursday of the month, and the menu always changes based upon what’s seasonally available. When our Food Sector Job Training Program is in sessions, the participants always take a lead role in helping to prepare and serve these meals.

Snacks In The Kitchen
Snacks in the kitchen takes place each Friday during the school year. We prepare and offer snacks for students who get off at the bus stop in our neighborhood– providing them with a locally sourced, nourishing, and tasty snack.
Volunteer
Both Chat N Chow and Snacks in the Kitchen are great opportunities for folks to volunteer to help serve food, clean, and join us in eating. Or Donate to our Help Yourself Shelf to increase folks access to gently used kitchen equipment.
