About FoodChain

Nourish Lexington

Nourish Lexington seeks to eliminate barriers to fresh food by combining direct food access with education to empower our community. Click here for our weekly dinner menu!

Food literacy education

Food literacy teaches food skills, food culture & global food systems, health related behaviours and environmental sustainability, while exploring food preferences.

Summer Food Service Program

Since 2019 FoodChain has served as a sponsor for the USDA’s SFSP program providing free meals for youth 1-18 during the summer months. Enrichment with meals!

Indoor aquaponics farm

A demonstration of sustainable agriculture, our working farm raises tilapia, marine shrimp, lettuce, microgreens, and herbs, modeling a sustainable, local food system.

We empower our community with food

FoodChain opens doors to participate, to create, to share. We are a nonprofit organization increasing access to locally sourced, fresh food for everyone. Since 2011, we have partnered with our local community to empower people to love food with innovative methods of direct food access, unique and accessible food literacy programming, and a one-of-a-kind indoor aquaponic farm. This is how we model a more sustainable food system.

Your yoga class can do a little more than fill your cup. 💜🌱

This fall, when you practice with White Willow Emporium, a portion of your class supports FoodChain Lex and our work to build a more connected and equitable local food system.

That means you can stretch, breathe, reset AND give back at the same time.

Upcoming September classes:

🧘🏾‍♀️ Flow & Reset — Saturday, September 5 at 11 AM
🧘🏾‍♀️ Rest & Reset — Thursday, September 17 at 6 PM

📍 White Willow Emporium
400 Old Vine St #100, Lexington

All levels welcome. Come practice with purpose. 💜

FoodChain is unique because it gives power back to the community it serves. You do not see a lot of non-profits operate in this way and it is refreshing to see an organization be an asset to the community.
