Education at FoodChain
At the core of FoodChain’s mission lies a deep commitment to education, driving us towards a future where everyone plays an active role in shaping their own food system. Our educational programs are designed to enlighten and engage individuals about the choices they make and the profound impact these choices have on their personal food systems. Join us in exploring the diverse educational avenues we offer, and embark on a journey to discover the intricacies of your food landscape.
Food Literacy
FoodChain is dedicated to enhancing food literacy within the community, bridging the gap between individuals and the journey their food undertakes from farm to table. Our initiatives aim to cultivate a profound understanding and appreciation for fresh, locally-sourced food, fostering informed choices and sustainable eating habits.

Cook. Eat. Grow. (CEG)
Our CEG program stands on three fundamental pillars: increasing kitchen confidence, understanding the seasonality of produce, and exploring personal food preferences. Through hands-on classes, participants of all ages gain essential culinary skills, learn about the rhythms of nature’s bounty, and are encouraged to experiment with new flavors and ingredients. This comprehensive approach not only enhances culinary abilities but also fosters a deeper appreciation for the role of fresh produce in our diets.
Stir it up! Cooking classes
Embark on a culinary adventure with our privately scheduled cooking classes, tailored to a wide audience and focusing on the use of local, seasonal ingredients. Hosted in FoodChain’s state-of-the-art Teaching and Processing Kitchen or off-site at your location, these classes are designed to boost kitchen confidence and advocate for dietary choices that benefit both personal health and the environment. From savory soups to delightful desserts, discover the joy of cooking with fresh, vibrant ingredients.

Community Cooking Classes
We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with the Whole Cities Foundation as a 2023 Community First Grant partner! Thanks to this support, we’re excited to introduce Community Cooking Classes, held every 3rd Saturday of the month from 1:00pm-2:30pm in our kitchen at FoodChain. These classes are free and open to everyone in the community, aiming to expand access to fresh, healthy food and nutrition education. Join us as we focus on cooking with seasonal, local produce, boosting kitchen confidence, and discovering personal food preferences. Community cooking class page
Vamos a Cocinar
Offering a unique field trip opportunity for Spanish classes, Vamos a Cocinar invites students into our teaching kitchen for an immersive cooking experience conducted entirely in Spanish.
